With the announcement on the delay of the opening of the Pier in Hastings being made public and the Pier charity’s first AGM, with public shareholders, imminent we were asked to rethink the Pier hoardings again. We discussed the prospect with CEO Simon Opie, creating new artwork for the 24 metres of frontage, and decided to work on the 3 themes of ‘Work in Progress’, ‘Public Engagement’ and ‘Future Vision’. We also created 3 simple animations of the hoardings for presentation at the AGM which can be viewed on the Pier Charity’s You Tube channel.

French music producer Madeon is currently touring the global festival circuit in support of his debut album ‘Adventure’ and producer/ director Bob Jaroc asked us to make 6 videos for Madeon to live mix on stage for the show’s climax, the track ‘Home’. We created a series of low polygon environments with fly-through camera work and fast cut edits to ride the song’s anthemic melody.

Unlimited in Brighton have stocked our Seasonal Moth prints for the past couple of years and at the start of 2015 they invited us to take part in a collaborative project entitled ‘FourPlay’. The collaboration, between their in-house design consultancy and forty of the designers they stock, started with the designers choosing one of forty 4 letter words to take inspiration from in order to create an image. Once the image was completed Unlimited incorporated complimentary typography. We chose the word ‘Fake’.
Fourplay is showing at BoxPark, London 23-30 April 2015 & Unlimited, Brighton 1-31 May 2015 you can view the full image and purchase a copy (limited to 100) here:

To coincide with the opening weekend of Hastings Arts Festival, Coastal Currents, we organized our first TShirt Pop Up shop in a back alley that had more than a passing resemblance to a New York equivalent. We invited 10 artists to take part in the 6 hour flash sale by supplying us with one off or short run editions to be sold exclusively on the day, for many of the artist it was the first time they had produced Tshirts. Approximately 40 shirts were sold during the event with a great response from the public to the concept and artwork on display. Further Pop Up adventures are planned. Artists who took part on the day included: Dr.Noki’s NHS, Screen Prince, Beccy McCray, Shaun Mills, Martin O’Neill, Grande Dame, Shuby, T(error)ist, Alex Cox and we had some classics from the Church of Sub-Genius and Bob Dobbs. Back in May we were approached by Lorna Crabbe and Tina Morris from Coastal Currents Arts Festival, Hastings, with an invitation to curate and create a production for the opening night of the festivals 15th year, in the towns wonderful St.Mary’s in the Castle venue. Using the theme of a Dawn Chorus, inspired by specially commissioned feathered sculpture features by Kate Mccquire in the venues crypt, we invited Sound Artist and producer Riz Maslen aka Neotropic, vocal sculptor Jason Singh, baritone Le Gateau Chocolat and local choir leader Claire Hamill to take part in our interpretation of a Dawn Chorus. The night was deemed a massive success with the venue seeing its busiest night ever. More info and images from the evening are forthcoming.
