EduFlicks – Educational App Design

Category : design, film, video April 2, 2016

zeroh_EduFlicks1EduFlicks ‘Hollywood Classroom Project’, working closely with Hollywood action director David Lane and film/ fx producer Michele Fabian Jones we were tasked with the role of design, conceptualisation and visualisation of an educational app for use by secondary education students.
We were given a simple storyboard which we developed and re-designed resulting in a learning concept app that uses work groups/ smart phones and social media platforms to engage students with creative film challenges orientated around curriculum based subject matter, rather like a ‘digital exercise book’. We also worked on green screen compositing work for the pre-loaded content, the example being the balcony scene from Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’. The app is currently in further development based on our supplied user journey examples, design and compositing.

CARDBOARD CITIZENS – META

Category : animation, artwork, video February 22, 2016

zeroh_META_thumbnail-2‘META’ is the second project we’ve worked on with the incredible Cardboard Citizens and is currently on tour. “Science and art collide in this funny, powerful Forum Theatre show developed with students from the borough of Tower Hamlets. Neuroscientific findings are shared through physical theatre, video projection and sound design giving an insight into what happens to our brain (and the rest of us) as we grow up.” We worked with the Cardboard Citizens production staff and a team of Neuroscientists on the visual aspect of the piece and created animations for the ‘science bits’ and backdrops for the location scenes. We are also in the process of documenting the production for a short film to be finished in May of this year. ‘Meta’ is supported by The Wellcome trust. More info and images from the production feature HERE.

SOMETHING UNREAL – NYE PARTY

Category : event February 21, 2016

ZEROH_unreal-thumbWE HELD A SOLD OUT NEW YEARS EVE PARTY celebrating our 15th anniversary as ZEROH and the opening of The Printworks in the America Ground, Hastings. The party proved to be a huge success with us taking to the decks for 6 hours the first time in a club in nearly 10 years.
The 300 guests kept the dancefloor going strong all night long and we figured we’d do it a few more times throughout the year as the town seems to lack an open-minded dance event where people of any age can come together and just dance the night away. More info can be found here www.somethingunreal.com where you can sign up to the newsletter and find out about the next event and other events we dj at.

BY OUR SELVES – THE FILM

Category : artwork October 1, 2015

zeroh_AndrewKotting_ByOurSelves-thumbnailsA review of Andrew Kötting‘s film By Our Selves, now on limited general release, features in the November 2015 edition of Sight and Sound magazine. Andrew asked us to contribute to the film in a number of ways and shared some of the early cuts of the film with us, we did the initial titles/ 30 seconds of comping/ a triptych portrait of Andrew as a Straw Bear for an installation presentation of the film and contributed prints to the Kickstarter campaign, all tiny pieces of the bigger picture but we’re very proud to have played a small part in such a stunningly beautiful thing. This review also gives us our first BFI Filmography listing.

COASTAL CURRENTS – POINT OF DECAY

Category : artwork, event September 10, 2015

We were once again asked to create the opening event for, Hastings and St.Leonards Arts Festival, Coastal Currents this year and set out to change the communities thinking on a unique public walk way that bridges the two districts called Bottle Alley. We created a half a kilometre long exhibition featuring commissioned works by 16 local artists on 4 sided columns that frame the view of the sea from the shoreline. On August 29th we held a two hour event which opened the festival, and exhibition, with a champagne reception featuring live music from The Rayner Hess Trio and a colour wash down the length down the length of the space with over 1.5k people in attendance, tripling last years audience. We were brought on board by Project Manager Tony McBride as Visual Designers for a verbatim theatre piece entitled Street/Life. After 3 week of devising the piece with Director Terry O’Leary, Designer Joanna Layla and Sound Designer Tom Yardley we did a 3 night sell out run with a cast of 8.
