FROM WHISPER TO A ROAR

Opening Doors London (ODL) is the biggest charity in the UK to provide information and support services specifically for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT+) people over 50. We were commissioned to design and produce a website for their Heritage Lottery funded oral histories project ‘From a Whisper to a Roar’ which focuses on women’s involvement in the LGBTQ movement over the last 50 years through activism and support. The look of the site hints at 1970’s/ 80’s red top newspapers to evoke the sensationalist headlines of the period. The site features transcripts of interviews with women and themed podcasts finding common threads in the stories that unfold. Also featured are images inspired by the oral histories from an exhibition of printworks by artists Lesley Greening Lassoff and Clare Somerville-Perkins. You can visit the site here.
